Our Story

Our love story is one of chance and bravery. I (Shannon) was running in downtown Lexington and turned a corner to cross the street. Garrison was in an uber going to get his car from the night before. Checking a text, the distracted uber driver cruised through a red light, colliding with the innocent yours truly. Garrison lept out, dodging oncoming traffic to sprint to my side as I lay bleeding on the pavement. I was in and out of consciousness, but when our eyes finally met I knew it was meant to be.

That’s a lie. We met on match.com like nerds. But hey, it worked! Match.com, feel free to put us in a commercial any time now. Garrison made the first move by sending me a message. He put his best foot forward by telling me some fun facts about himself such as “I always cheat while playing monopoly but never cheat at golf” and “I once surrounded someone’s car with shopping carts who parked in a handicapped spot who shouldn’t have”. Wow, I thought. Love at first message. Just kidding, but I was intrigued. We met up at Table 310 (a nice restaurant in downtown Lexington) for our first date around mid December of 2013. Garrison ordered prosciutto which I’d never even heard of before, so he became “the fancy man” when I was telling my friends about this new guy I went on a date with. Oh how wrong I was… He quickly lost the nickname when we went bowling on date number two followed by a ride in his old 4Runner to Winchell's for some fried green tomatoes.

Fancy or not, our conversations were always amazing, and I had a blast with Garrison every time I saw him. He impressed me on New Years when he meshed with my friends, officially asked me to be his girlfriend, and put up with me after I waaaaay over indulged in liquor.

Fast forward three and a half amazing years, and Garrison got down on one knee on the beach of Roatan, Honduras. In typical Garrison fashion his proposal speech was insanely sweet with a touch of rude sarcasm. I wouldn’t want it any other way. Garrison and I enjoyed our first evening as an engaged couple despite our friend Jenny’s pet crab being murdered. (Feel free to ask Nick and Jenny for the full story- they’d love to relive it).

Our story continues each and every day as we make each other as happy as humanly possible. We can’t wait for you to be part of our story when we tie the knot on a yacht in July. Thanks for reading, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
